Playgroup

For: Mothers, fathers, grandparents or carers with children under pre-school age.

Held on 4 mornings a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) aiming to provide stimulating activities for the children with friendship and support for their families

The Gap Uniting Church Playgroup is a ministry of The Gap Uniting Church to our community. It is affiliated with Playgroup Queensland.

The aim is to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for young families, encouraging social interaction between pre-schoolers from ages 0 – 5 years. Activities focus on play, indoors and outdoors in a sandpit - to have fun, to learn to share and to develop new skills. Participation through craft, singing and stories plays an important role during the sessions.

Mothers, fathers, grandparents and carers are encouraged to be involved in playgroup. Adults make friends, share their experiences and support each other. Parents can assist in the running of a group as coordinator. Volunteers from our congregation and outside, who posses a Blue Card, attend sessions, offering support where it is needed. Each group has a designated Pastoral Carer.

At Easter and Christmas, a special service, designed for the children of each group, is held in the Church and families are invited to attend.

Groups meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during school terms, in the extensively refurbished Lower John Knox Hall from 9.30 am – 11am. Parking is available within Church Property. A bus stop is located near the entrance to the Church property.

Families attending the Playgroup must become members of Playgroup Queensland to receive comprehensive insurance cover. The stipulated fee is $35.00 for a year, 1^st April to 31^st March, or $17.00 from 1^st October to December. Concessions are granted. Families are encouraged to contribute $3.00 per visit for incidental expenses.
